REVIEW: Bellissima Scarves

"Elegant and stylish Italian scarves. Ideal for every day use or for a special occasion wear. Bellissima Scarves do not crease, they will cheer up your wardrobe and add style to any of your clothing."  -  Bellissima Scarves

One word that describes  Bellissima Scarves  by its customers is "Elegant" per reading their comments on its FB page. Hadia, the designer behind Bellissima tells us that they do the pattern designs with the manufacturer, which are produced in Italy. You will see a pattern in similarity throughout the scarves. I describe them as 'Classic' which means they will last through the years of trends and fads.

Let's get to some fun!

The scarf we received for review is the 'Dolce Celeste' which means 'Sweet Heavenly" and it's from their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. I can definitely see the relation of its name to the scarf's color and feel. It came wrapped in a neatly purple tissue paper.

After removing the tissue, I found the scarf to be inside a plastic covering that has their name printed on. Two marks here: 1. The plastic is of nice quality. 2. The fact that they took the extra step of printing their name on the plastic bag tells you that they take extra care in every step of the process, which also means it adds to the cost.

The scarf is very light, weaved, soft and has a semi-transparency. On both sides of the scarf towards the edge you will see the scarf has sheen and foil threads that run down throughout it. This has become a signature of Bellissima Scarves and you can see this throughout her collections.

The scarf has it's own label attached. After a light inspection, there was something I was dying to do with this scarf. I put it to the test of creasing. Bellissima Scarves states that their scarves don't tend to crease.

When I opened the package and extended the scarf to get a feel for it, I noticed its folding marks. I then read the label(60% polyester and 40% viscose) and I understood that due to the viscose, it could after days and sometimes weeks(depending on travel, packaging, temperature exposure and storage) in a certain folding position can leave a folding mark. Viscose although known as a synthetic fiber does contain natural plant fibers. Also, the viscose explains its softness, beautiful draping, linen feel and breathing wear-ability under different weather conditions. And, because of its significant amount of viscose, it helps absorb moisture. In conclusion it's a combination of both worlds(durability and wear-ability)

Now, for the testing part! I crunched it up tightly with both hands for 1 minute. This is how it looked liked afterwards.

The creasing marks were very light and after a few minutes the creases disappeared and the scarf returned to its original state.  I think this is the work of the polyester. So, unless you will wear this scarf for days or sleep with it, it will keep its form throughout the day without creasing. You might see some slight creases when you take it off after many hours of use on the parts you did folds or tied because again it contains natural fibers and the body produces heat which set in the natural fibers and sometimes the polyester depending on the intensity of the heat. I also took the time to look at the entire scarf through the sunlight. I found that the fabric was created very smoothly, had no bumps, snags or threads coming out the scarf. As it can happen with bad workmanship.

Because of its fabric content, its delicacy, the work that was put into the making and to keep your scarf in tip-top shape, careful care should be taken when cleaning your scarf. Bellissima Scarves offers tips on how to care for your scarf on their page here

I think the choice of fabric, work and time that Bellissima Scarves has put into their scarves reflects very good on their prices. The only think I would love to see and this is me personally, it would be a fabric label for their scarves. I think very-well designed and made scarves as these, deserve it.

Bellissima Scarves includes an incentive for your purchase and something you can share with friends and family.
